Watford County Qualifier 2018!
A large DSC squad travelled to the Watford County Qualifier Open Meet over the weekend of 17 and 18 November 2018. Held at the Watford pool, this meet was a level 3 gala and perfect for many swimmers to achieve county times needed for the New Year. Many medals, PB’s, County Times and even new Junior County records were achieved! Over the same weekend we also had two of our swimmers at the Hitchin SC meet, two swimmers at a selected Beds Development Day and one swimmer at the National Schools Swimming Championship finals at the London Aquatic Centre. Highlights of all the swimming this weekend is included here;
400m FC Jessica Kefford and Millie Dudley both achieve new PB’s.
Skylar Alderson (huge PB and wins her heat), Jenny Davis and Millie Dudley achieve new PB’s all in the 100m BR. Daniel Richards and Callum Shepherd both pb in the same race. Will Hamm 4 second pb in the 200m back, with Hannah Swan achieving an incredible 20 second pb in her 200IM and Bethany Harwood a super 3.03 for hers!. Joshua Hamm and Austin White both PB in the same heat of the 100m FC.
Walter Hackett and Ollie Ellison both PB in the 100m backstroke, with Walter grabbing a new Bedfordshire County all-time Junior Record, with his 100m IM being the same! Huge PB’s from Bryony Mathias in 1.25.10 and Jessica Medlicott in 1.23.83 in the same race. Annabella Vassallo-Todaro swims a fantastic 100m backstroke in 1.19.16.
Hannah Swan swims an incredible 3.24.31 a huge pb of 24 seconds in her 200m BR, with Jenny Davis also hugely PB’ing in 3.33.31. Thea Brazel-Hawkins produces a stormer and swims in 3.28.15 PB and finally Rhianne Carrick breaks the 3 minutes in 2.58.94 in the same race – well done girls…
Onto the 100m fly for the boys and Daniel Tuffnell swims in a great pb of 1.06.11 with Myles Mathias on 1.06.58. For the girls Lily swan PB’s in a time of 1.27.32 and Jessica Kefford puts in a great swim and gains a new pb of 1.15.38. Too many 50m fly swims to mention too but well done to Eloise Harper for hers.
In the 50m br Daniel Richards breaks the 40 sec barrier in a time of 39.32, with PB’s coming from Michael Judd, Walter Hackett and on PB from Will Richards. In the girls 50m br, Chloe Medlicott PB’s in 48.02, Thea Brazel Hawkins another PB in 43.31, Kathryn Kirkwood just outside PB but still a fabulous swim in 43.42 and finally Rhianne Carrick in another pb swim of 38.10 – well done all.
In the 200m FC Kieran Murray swims in 2.11.12 and Callum Shepherd in 2.10.89 – Great swims.
Will Richards 200m FC in a time of 2.05.25.
For the girls 200m FC Jenny Davis produces another fantastic swim in 2.48.90 with Ruby Collins swimming in 2.18.24 for this and a blistering 1.03.77 for her 100m fc gaining a silver medal too.
In the 50m bk Carmello Vassallo-Todaro sets the tone with a fantastic new pb in 48.75, Louis Ellison on par with a 43.13 and Austin White also beats his entry time in 39.46. For Daniel Richards 37.74 pb, Kieran Murray 33.46 pb, Callum Shepherd 31.72 and Myles Mathias 32.45. Ollie Ellison on PB with a 31.24 and finally Walter Hackett just off his pb in 27.43. Great racing boys – well done.
In the 50m bk for girls, Skylar continues her amazing weekend and swims 39.88 another huge pb, Hannah Swan 41.69, Chloe Medlicott 38.85. Bryony Mathias storms her 50m back in 37.85, closely followed by Isabel Tuffnell on 39.23 – well done girls.
Amy Shaw has a brilliant meet and soars into Counties on all 3 backstrokes with a 37.33 for her 50m. Annabella Vassallo-Todaro dropped her 50m back pb down to 35.23 and Lily Swan completed the girls in 37.30.
Well done to all 50m free swimmers who also competed. Too many to comment on but particular mention for the boys, George Wallis-Smith in a new pb of 32.73 brilliant, and for the girls Bryony Mathias age 11 who swam an incredible 31.86 PB breaking a club record set in 1996! Well done Bryony!
A precise also of Walter Hackett’s weekend. 7 swims, 5 PB’s, 5 new club records and 2 Junior County Records – Well done Walter.
Meanwhile at the Hitchin Open. Thomas and Holly Fantini were also working very hard and achieved some amazing results! 8 Races between them, 5 new PB’s, 3 silver medals and 1 gold for Thomas, a new county time and 4 sec pb in the 200m fc and Holly finishing her very long day with a 9 second PB in the 50m fly! Congratulations to you both.
Elliot Kefford and Maisie Humphrey meanwhile enjoyed their Beds Development Day in Bedford, where they worked hard but learnt a lot.
Finally DSC’s Kieran Murray swam for his school over the weekend in the National Finals at the London Aquatics Centre in Stratford. Well done Kieran, judging by all the tweets your school is immensely proud of you as are DSC!
