Dunstable made a solid start to the Home Counties League with 3rd place in Round One, held at Luton on 19th January. The Home Counties league is an "A" grade league and is a real test of how our top swimmers shape up against the strongest local opposition.
From the first event, the Ladies Open 4 x 1 Medley Relay, Charlotte Cooke demonstrated Dunstable's determination to make an impact with a comfortable victory and maximum points straight away. Charlotte then went on to notch up another victory in the Girls 15U Butterfly. Laura Condon and Emily Ridout also chalked up a brace individual victories each in addition to their Team Relay wins.
The boy's team was a little under strength, with some key swimmers unavailable, but still equipped themselves well with consistent performances all round to score regular points and keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Steve Threadgold, Head Coach said "it was very pleasing performance in a competitive league. I think the opposition know they have to be wary of Dunstable now. 10 1st places, 14 2nd places and 13 3rd places, shows we have the strength in depth to be a threat in this League".
