Junior League Rd 1 and John Honey Cup – 2019!
DSC began their Junior League in earnest at the Milton Keynes & District Junior Swimming League competition at the Teddington pool on 1st June 2019. Coming in in 5th place, the swimmers gave it their best shot. The following weekend DSC competed at the John Honey Cup Gala at Tiddenfoot (8th June) with good results. Some of our more seasoned swimmers were involved, and there were some very exciting relays in particular the men’s relay at the very end.
Some of our junior swimmers have only just joined the DSC family and have never competed before. They were incredibly brave and were definitely thrown in the deep end when it came to competitive swimming being against the National League Champions! They held their own brilliantly though against some really tough competition – top spots were 3 2nd place positions.
Final scores from this 1st round were as follows;
1st – Guildford – 266
2nd – Teddington – 213
3rd – Brompton – 196
4th – Leander – 182
5th – Dunstable – 109
DSC will look forward to competing in round 2 of the Junior League on 6th July 2019.
DSC’s more seasoned swimmers then took themselves off to the John Honey Cup, held at the Tiddenfoot Swimming Pool in Leighton Buzzard. The gala was held on the evening of 8th June 2019. This was a commemorative gala which was important for Leighton Buzzard Swimming Club to win, and this they did in style. However, DSC gave a great performance and gave the hosts a good gala. With 5 1st places and 12 2nd place positions – DSC performed brilliantly on the night!
Final results were as follows;
1st – Leighton Buzzard – 269
2nd – Flitwick Dolphins – 243
3rd – Dunstable – 213
Well done to all of our swimmers over this fortnight.
