DSC Virtual Platform…
DSC continues to support our swimmers with our hugely, successful Virtual Platform! It has enabled our swimmers to remain fit and flexible, ready to return to the pool and keep our many families engaged with the club. We have received great feedback on these activities, and we have shown already that there really is something for everyone from Fulcrum Sports, Yoga and Hiit through to our fantastic Friday night socials including Bingo, Disco’s and our ever popular Quiz Nights.
The DSC committee realised very early on in the Corona Virus Pandemic and through these unprecedented times, that we needed to ensure that as a club we remained engaged with our swimmers and their families. Head Coach Tim Hutton and the DSC committee have continued to work tirelessly on providing a virtual platform via Zoom to offer; 1) A fitness related programme to ensure our young athletes remain fit to return to the pool once safe to do so, 2) An educational platform where we have invited speakers such as Mark Foster the Ex Olympian Swimmer for a Q&A session with our swimmers, along with Swim England Pathway Development Manager Kevin Pickard and 3) A fun platform for Friday socials for all the family to enjoy – virtually.
As a club we have committed to providing access to qualified and knowledgeable land training coaches – most families will know Devan Andrews from his work with us. He is working weekly with all our squads (excluding Academy, due to insurance reasons). We also have Aga, an experienced Yoga coach to help with flexibility training and Fulcrum Sports for Strength and Conditioning!
As we return to the pool this December our Virtual Training Programme continues for our Swimmers, you can see our new schedule in the link below:
DSC is a non-profit club, but for some activities we have asked for a small contribution in order to run them successfully. These additional fund raisers like our Quiz Nights enable us to engage other speakers and fitness coaches on a regular basis. The fund raisers are a key way for you to have fun and for us to support our swimmers – and we really look forward to seeing you, and your friends and family. An hour of fun on a Friday can make the world of a difference in the current climate.
Please ensure you keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter which is where we post reminders and emails for those Zoom invites, which have personal ID logins for you.
We look forward to seeing you on Poolside and Virtually soon!
