CBSS Open Meet 2019!

DSC travelled across to the Biggleswade pool over the weekend of 9-10 March 2019, for the annual level 2 meet hosted by Central Beds Swim Squad. This open meet is designed as a window for regional qualification.  Some top podium positions and fantastic new PB’s were achieved over the weekend – well done to all the DSC competitors.  DSC would also like to thank all it’s poolside helpers who provided invaluable assistance to our swimmers over the weekend.

The weekend kicked off with Michael Judd (21) gaining a silver medal in the 400m freestyle event.  Michael also managed an astonishing new pb and brand new club record in the 400m IM and gaining a gold medal to boot.  His entry time was 5.02.22 and he finished the race in 4.47.84. Michael also gained a gold and a bronze in 50m back and 50m free. – well done Michael!

Jennifer Davis (12) PB’d in all her races over the weekend starting with the 200m IM gaining a bronze medal, then the 50m backstroke pb, 200m breaststroke pb, 50m breaststroke pb, 200m butterfly (silver and a massive pb with over 20 seconds taken off her entry time!) silver in the 50m butterfly pb, 200m freestyle pb and 50m freestyle pb. An astonishing weekend for Jenny – very well done!

Maisie Humphrey (13) also had a brilliant weekend of racing. PB’ing massively in her 200m breaststroke taking 9 seconds off her entry time!, and in her 100m butterfly gaining a bronze medal and a huge 10 second pb going from 1.29.09 to a blistering 1.19.86 – brilliant!

Skylar Alderson (13) is swimming brilliantly and this showed over the weekend. A 4 second pb was gained in the 100m freestyle finishing in 1.13.29, 2 seconds taken off her 50m backstroke finishing in 37.66, another 2 seconds taken off her 100m breaststroke and the same again in her 50m free finishing in a time of 32.54 – terrific swimming Skylar well done.

Super new pb’s also came from Jessica Medlicott (12) in the 200m IM, with a 9 second pb finishing in 2.59.55, Bryony Mathias (12) in the 100m freestyle in a new time of 1.10.28 and again in the 200m freestyle taking a whopping 7 seconds off her time and finishing in 2.36.01, Rhianne Carrick (15) in her 100m breaststroke finishing in a sensational 1.22.50 giving her a 2 second pb! and finally Isabel Tuffnell and Bethany Harwood showing convincing pb’s in their 200m freestyle, and 50m butterfly respectively.

Other medals for DSC came from DSC’s seniors firstly Walter Hackett (16) gaining 4 gold medals in back, breast and freestyle over varying distances, Maia Morgan (16) silver and bronze medals in 200m and 50m breaststroke, 1 silver and 2 bronzes from Ollie Ellison (16) in freestyle and backstroke events and finally a bronze medal from Callum Shepherd (16) in the 50m backstroke.

Well done also goes to Hannah Swan (12), Chloe Medlicott (14), Annabella Vassallo-Todaro (15), Daniel Tuffnell (17), Carmelo Vasallo-Todaro (12), George Wallis-Smith (14) with a 3 sec pb in 50m back! and finally Francesca Humphrey (11).  Well done to all these swimmers for competing over this fast weekend of racing which was extremely competitive.

DSC now turn to the 2nd round of Chiltern League 16th March, and a Frantic 50’s meet on the same night!! – good luck team!
