Coming in in 5th place, the swimmers gave it their best shot. The following weekend DSC competed at the John Honey Cup Gala at Tiddenfoot (8th June) with good results. Some of our more seasoned swimmers were involved, and there were some very exciting relays in particular the men’s relay at the very end.

Splash Night 2 – May 2019!!
Another massively successful Splash Night for DSC. This second Splash of the year was held on 11th May 2019 at The St. Albans School, and consisted mostly of the frantic 50’s events. The programme of swimming also included the 100IM and 200IM. Bursting with PB’s this internal gala event was brilliant for the swimmers, especially as we finished off the evening with mixed relays right from Academy swimmers through to Performance and this mix was enjoyed by everyone…

April Luton Level 1 – 2019!
An exciting weekend for DSC at the Luton Level 1 meet held at Inspire 20/21 April 2019. This gala was a national window qualifier, so some very fast competitive swimming could be seen indeed! Some of DSC’s younger swimmers were also using the competition to gain regional qualifying times and with some truly sensational swimming with many club records broken, they did not disappoint!
Chiltern League 3rd and Final Round – 2019
DSC were once again competing on 6th April for the third and final round of the Chiltern League 2019. This last round was held at the Aylesbury Vale Pool and we faced the highest scoring teams and therefore the toughest draw of all three rounds. We were very proud of this fact however, as it meant we had competed well enough in the first two rounds to be in the premier round at the end! DSC did their best on the night and some swimmers competed multiple times – as a small squad this means working very hard! We are thrilled to bits for the overall results, gaining 6th place overall out of 14 teams!
Wycombe & Luton Open Meets – 2019!
A small group of DSC swimmers took to the pool in Wycombe and Luton over the last few weekends. Both Level 1 meets so massively competitive. Both these gala’s were timely for the regional qualifying window. Well done to everyone who competed over the two weekends. Particular mention goes to Rhianne Carrick who secured two RQT’s over the last few weeks in 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly and to Millie Dudley who secured all 4 50m distances for regional qualification, amongst others earlier in the year. Our juniors can also be seen to be hot on their tales with Jenny Davis and Bryony Mathias so very close with their qualifications.
Chiltern League Rd 2 – 2019 plus much more!
DSC carried on their Chiltern League campaign with a fantastic 3rd place position overall! Held at the Tiddenfoot Pool in Leighton Buzzard on Saturday 16th March 2019. Splash Night 1 – 2019!
A fantastic start to DSC’s first Splash night of this new year! 70 competitors were ready to swim as fast as they could on the evening of 9 February 2019 at St Albans School. Designed to be a junior splash for Academy/Development swimmers to shine, the event also attracted athletes in the higher sprint squads/performance, who became mentors to the younger ones. A tremendous £267.00 was also raised through the door and raffle. As always DSC thank all it’s coaches, officials, volunteers and parents for their brilliant support with our internal events.

DSC’s Splash Night 3 – 2018!
The last splash night in DSC’s competition calendar took place on Saturday 1st December at The St. Albans School. For most, this was the last chance to achieve those elusive county times before entering, so the pressure was on. It was an incredible evening of swimming as we saw some of our youngest academy swimmers as young as 7 gain their first PB’s, and others who are more experienced clinch those qualifying times needed for counties in January.
Long Distance Splash – 2018!
On a very early morning on 25 November 2018, some brave swimmers took to the pool in St. Albans to compete in a long distance splash. The DSC committee wanted to give every opportunity for qualification to the swimmers interested in swimming the 1500m and 800m freestyle events at the 2019 Beds County Championships. For the first time ever boys are able to compete in the 800m freestyle, and girls in the 1500m. The reversing of the distances has become very popular, and as many meets were already full, DSC made arrangements to run their own long distance splash meet.

East Region Open Water Champs 2018
Our fabulous DSC Open Water squad took to the lake at Whitlingham Park in Norfolk this weekend (22nd July 2018) with some amazing results! Kieran Murray and Callum Shepherd swam in the Men’s 15/16 Yr old 2k event, Alan Shepherd and Simon Murray swam in the Men’s 40/49 Yr old 2k event, Isabella Porzio DSC’s only girl swam the 3k event in the Women’s 13/16 Yr old age group and finally our very own senior coach Steve Kerr swam the very exhausting 5k event in the 50/59 age group! A massive well done to each and every one of you. A huge amount of stamina and resilience is needed at these events but we do hope that with more of our swimmers training and competing at the open water champs, there will be a lot more interest for others too.
Club Champs Weekend 2 – 2018!
DSC concluded their 2018 club championships on Sunday 15th July with a very exciting gala. As before, DSC swimmers compete against each other collecting points as they race, to find the overall winner at the end in each age category. Again being run on a Sunday morning as opposed to a Saturday night, our swimmers seemed to enjoy competing together over a morning in the wonderful St. Albans school facilities once again. There were some fantastic new pb’s to enjoy and many medals/trophies won – a great celebration of everyone’s hard work… To top off these club champs, we also enjoyed a very fast and furious skins event. These swimmers were drawn from the 6 fastest in the previous 200m freestyle events for boys/girls/seniors and juniors. This is a sudden elimination round to leave the overall winner in the 50m freestyle. Well done to everyone that qualified and competed, it certainly was very exciting!
